| Brief Biography: Sarah Gibson was born Aug 23, 1817 in Putnam Co. Indiana, daughter of Mr.and Mrs. James Gibson. She married William H. Brockus Aug 18, 1838 in Carroll County, Indiana at age 20. They were living in Iowa in the 1850 Census.
After William died she lived with the children. She spent the last 15 years of her life in Saint Joseph, MO. She died Feb 9, 1890. This is her obituary:

Sarah Brockus died at the residence of her son-in-law, John Felling, yesterday at 8:30 a.m., after a short illness: aged 73 years and 6 months. She was the mother of eleven children, six of whom are now living. She was a resident of St. Joseph for about fifteen years. The funeral will take place from the residence of John Felling, corner of Eighteenth and Mary streets, Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock. The remains will be interred in Mount Mora cemetery. Friends repectfully invited to attend. |
