Brief Biography: Obituary Terry passed away on February 16, 2017 at Liberty Hospital following a lengthy illness. He was born March 16, 1947 in St. Joseph, MO to the late Thomas Andrew and Mary Alice (Larkins) Earhart. In St. Joseph, he attended Blair Elementary and Bliss Junior High. He graduated from Central High School – class of 1965. At Central, Terry was very involved in R.O.T.C. for three years and attained the rank of Lt. Col. His senior year. After graduating Terry did his nursing studies at the “old Kansas City General Hospital.” Later he graduated from the Kansas City Police Academy prior to working as a Deputy Sheriff in Buchanan Co. under Sheriff Sonny Meyers. After his marriage to Elizabeth (“Betty”) Ann Muench on April 26, 1975, Terry returned to college and earned a Bachelor of Social Work Degree from MWSU in St, Joseph. Using his varied educational background Terry held several different work positions. As a Child Abuse/Neglect Investigator with The State of MO Division of Family Services, he sought to keep children safe. As the 1st Director of the Dislocated Worker Program at the Mo-Kan Regional Council, he assisted clients to become employable. Terry retired from Health and Human Services Northeast Kansas Head Start program where he formed and led the Family Development Program to enable families to become self – sufficient. Terry was also active in civil affairs. He served as President of the Harvesters Food Bank and on the board of Ashland United Methodist Church – both in St. Joseph. Terry was a past president of the “Downtown” Optimist Club in St. Joseph and a past district Lt. Governor with the Optimists. Terry was a former member of Ashland UMC, Caring 1st Assembly of God, Central Assembly of God Churches and currently attended Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, Kansas City, MO (Northland). Terry is survived by his wife of 41 years, Betty Ann; daughter, Mary Elizabeth (Marybeth) Clinton (Jeff); two grandchildren, Madison and Dylan; brother, Danny Earhart (Eve) and several nieces and nephews. After his mother passed away, Terry’s father married Fernalee Patrick, who also survives along with her children: Wally Patrick, Jerry Robins, and Cherry Jolliff; and their families. Visitation will be Sunday, February 19, 2017 at Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, 9555 N. Oak Trafficway, KC, MO from 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm with service to follow at 3:30 pm. Graveside service on Monday, February 20, 2017 at 11 am at Mt. Mora Cemetery, St. Joseph, MO.
